Have you seen our new Handmade Life enamel pin? 

This pin is one that Matt (Mr. Global Backyard) designed for us, and it really speaks to our whole reason for being. That sounds a little heavy for a pin, so let me explain. 

About six years ago, we were out walking the dog in our former Seattle neighborhood (Ballard), and talking about our future. We were both working in corporate jobs and while we were very fortunate, it wasn't how we saw ourselves long-term. So we started brainstorming about what it was we wanted in our ideal worlds. 

Things like: Space to be creative. Time to cook homemade meals. The energy to exercise and get healthier. A way to make a living that wasn't dependent on the whims of others. More time painting, and sewing, and knitting, and canning small-batch jam, and, well...MAKING things. All the things. Anything, really.  

Somehow or another, and after changing a whole bunch of stuff -- we ended up where we're at. In a bigger house with that creative space we were after, in a different neighborhood that we love (West Seattle), and with a small but growing business. Creating a craft brand and selling things that help others make things, too.

We're still working on fine-tuning our Handmade Life, but we're definitely loving the process. (I mean, when we're not running around with our hair on fire).
